I Noticed Him Because He Was Different

I noticed him because he was different. A shell of a man in dirty clothes, slumping into his wheelchair. He didn’t match the upper-middle class shoppers in the produce section.
He seemed to be studying the meager contents within the re-usable grocery sack on his lap. I looked at him.
Maybe he was there because God wanted me to see.
And then I quickly moved on. I had places to go and things to do.
I loaded my groceries in the back of my Subaru, and directed my car towards the store’s exit. But there was that man again.
He was putting something into the Salvation Army kettle. His head was tossed back in laughter, and there was a smile that erased the other features of his face. He and the Bell Ringer in joyous communion.
Maybe he was there because God wanted me to see.

I agree God wanted you to see him. I think He especially wanted you to pray for him.
I shouldn’t say past tense, wanted, instead I should say wants.
